Aterciopelados presents new single: Play, featuring Ana Tijoux

Aterciopelados presents new single: Play, featuring Ana Tijoux

News from Making Movies: CARNAVAL: Celebrate Our Folk

News from Making Movies: CARNAVAL: Celebrate Our Folk

Yesterday, we experienced such a tremendous honor, not only did the mayor of our city invite us to perform at his state of the city address, but he embraced our pro-immigrant message and we presented him with a "We Are All Immigrants" hoodie at the conclusion of his speech. Kansas City is a part of our DNA; she allowed us to grow up before her eyes, to experiment, to learn by our victories and mistakes, and create Making Movies, and for that, we are grateful.

We are so excited to announce the first ever Carnaval Tour, a 22 city tour that takes the inclusive spirit of Carnaval throughout the nation. Four years ago in Kansas City we launched our first ever Making Movies Carnaval, a block party to support our music camp and youth songwriting program (for more info check out our newly launched non profit - http://artasmentorship.org), and it evolved into a festival where we ve hosted amazing acts like Ozomatli, Las Cafeteras and Hurray for the Riff Raff. This year we are taking that idea on the road and bringing our great friends Las Cafeteras, and Latin Grammy winners Alex Cuba and Mariachi Flor De Toloache on the first ever Carnaval Tour.

One show at a time we are redefining folk in North America– highlighting the rich, but often overlooked, folk music of Latin America and the artists who are bringing it into the future. From Los Angeles to Cuba, Panama to New Orleans, Carnaval is a moment to let loose and express the resilience of the human spirit. It is an open and inclusive environment, a place where tradition and rebellion coexist. It s a chance to Celebrate Our Folk, and openly display who we are and where we come from.

Help us grow: pick up your tickets, tell all your folks about this once-in-a-lifetime tour, and continue to raise your voices! We will see you on the road in May.

El Retorno is the first new single presented by PALENKE SOULTRIBE from their upcoming album Sangre

El Retorno is the first new single presented by PALENKE SOULTRIBE from their upcoming album Sangre

Palenke Soultribe, the international Colombian group based in Los Angeles and pioneers of electro-cumbiero sound in the world, presents "El Retorno" (The Return), the first single and video lyric from their upcoming album "Sangre" that will be released during the summer of this year.

"El Retorno" is a song influenced by traditional cumbia sounds fused with synths and rhythm machines. The lyrics tell the story of a typical adventurous immigrant who returns to his country after years of struggling abroad and rediscovers his youth s romance and manages to relive it. It is a story of redemption, of struggle, and of reality and dreams. The official video will be released in the upcoming weeks.

This is the first track that Palenke Soultribe presents to us off their anticipated new album "Sangre", which corresponds to the third installment of the trilogy composed for "Oro" (2009), "Mar" (2013) and "Sangre" (2018) as a tribute to the colors of the Colombian flag. Recorded in Los Angeles with Colombian, Mexican, North American and Puerto Rican musicians, this material highlights many shades of music due to the influences acquired by the band through their tours and experiences overseas.

Their studio albums and 4 EPs with remixes have been accompanied by extensive tours in Europe, U.S.A., Canada and South America, including performances at prestigious festivals like the Glastonbury Festival in the U.K., Colours of Ostrava in the Czech Republic, WOMEX in Hungary and Mundial Montreal in Canada.

The lyric video was produced by LAPOST in Bogota, Colombia.

Mexican indie Rock Band Enjambre triumphs as one of the headliners of the massive Vive Latino 2018 Festival in Mexico

Mexican indie Rock Band Enjambre triumphs as one of the headliners of the massive Vive Latino 2018 Festival in Mexico

Enjambre solidifies its position as one of the most resounding bands of Latin American rock by giving an amazing show as one of the headliners of the Vive Latino 2018 Festival. As one of the stellar acts of the first day, they performed on Saturday, March 17 at 5:00 p.m. on the Indio stage and achieved a huge gathering with a fully devoted audience.

After the great feedback of the track Vida en el Espejo, the quintet launched Y La Esperanza as a new single. The video clip of this song was premiered on Saturday the 17th, in the Carpa Ambulante of Vive Latino, with the presence of the group.

The band s huge festival comeback occurs while it is confirmed that their recent album, Imperfecto Extraño, has reached the category of Gold Record in Mexico, having sold more than 33 thousand copies after nine months of its release. The album presentation tour has reached more than 50 cities in Mexico and the United States and has achieved great acceptance from both the public and critics.

On the other hand, a special acoustic version of Y La Esperanza will be the main theme song of Olimpia, the first fiction and animated film of the UNAM that will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1968 Olympic Games, as well as the student political movement that year that ended in hundreds of death students and teachers. Olimpia, which will be released in September, is written, produced and directed by José Manuel Cravioto (Seguir Siendo, Café Tacvba).

In December of 2017, Enjambre stepped on stage of the Auditorio Nacional for the second time of their career and also performed at the Pabellón M in Monterrey. A percentage of the revenues of both events were allocated by the band to build 25 houses and place the roof of a school of 120 students in Tlaquiltenango and Jojutla, two of the towns in Morelos affected by the earthquakes last Semptember. These actions were in coordination with Fundación Mosaico.

Imperfecto Extraño, the band s sixth studio album, was created over a period of more than two years and at first had a pre-production phase in an old hacienda in Jalisco. Subsequently, the recording was done in the legendary Sonic Ranch studios in El Paso, Texas and in the Testa Studio in Leon, Guanajuato. It is composed of 12 songs, including Tercer TipoCelesteEn Tu DíaNudoVida en el Espejo and Detéstame.

The record s debut (produced by English Phil Vinall, collaborator of Zoé, Placebo, Radiohead, Pulp, and with who they have already been a team with previously) has been immense; it was placed in the Mixup sales list as #1. The disc also debuted at #1 in iTunes Mexico under Alternative & Rock in Spanish and #3 under the general sale list of this digital platform.

Uruguayan Latin Grammy Nominees NoTeVaGustar presents new single and video from their latest slbum Suenan Las Alarmas

Uruguayan Latin Grammy Nominees NoTeVaGustar presents new single and video from their latest slbum Suenan Las Alarmas

Resilience is defined as the ability of the human being to adapt positively to adversity. Recently the term is also assigned to the community and cultural process that responds to variables of compensation, protection and challenge. This is what Pegame más fuerte, the new single off Suenan las alarmas, the most recent and acclaimed album of Uruguayan band and  Latin Grammy Nominees No te va gustar (Popart Discos) is about. It is an energetic rock imprinted song, within the conceptual framework of an album that questions the context of international, social, political and personal uncertainty that crosses the world, through a handful of songs that seek to propose a refuge to protect the spirit and the heart. In this original studio version, the song counts with the special participation of Herbert Vianna (Os Paralamas do Sucesso).

The video clip, shot live by Rodrigo Labella and Lolo Paradell, is the result of carefully selected moments. It is a parallel montage that offers, on one hand, the return of the live band in a sequence of successful massive shows, and on the other hand, the intimacy of a band that travels, that waits and that coexists; a band that bonds with their audience, that laughs, shares and enjoys. Taking advantage of its power, Pegame más fuerte is a real, warm and human x-ray of the current No te va gustar. It offers an opportunity to acknowledge their reality and to enjoy their magic all over again.

The band will be touring a good part of Latin America and the United States on board of the Suenan Las Alarmas tour, which includes shows in Argentina throughout March, April and May, and which will continue their international tour in 2018. Suenan las alarmasis a personal and mature record, where No te va gustar elegantly demonstrates more than 20 years of trajectory.

The material was recorded between July 2016 and March 2017 throughout the studios of Elefante Blanco in Montevideo, Romaphonic in Buenos Aires, White Water Music in New York and Bass Station in Brooklyn. The artistic production was carried out by ctor Castillo, the talented Venezuelan producer and four time Latin Grammy winner for ¨Ahí Vamos¨ and ¨Fuerza Natural¨ by Gustavo Cerati, as well as being internationally recognized for his work with Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Aterciopelados and David Bowie, within others. The mastering was done by Dave Mc.
